Expressing the Garden
The art and science of the garden does not stop at design and planting. Painting and photographing the garden has been the passion of many an amateur and professional artist for centuries.
Photography, especially close-up, reveals the beauty and exquisite, sometimes bizarre, details of the plant in ways that we can’t always appreciate with the human eye. A good photograph can allow us to “see” a flower or a leaf in a highly focused way that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. This website is for photos of that nature. It is merely a hobby at this point but I hope you enjoy and find beauty in these images.
Gardening is also a science and a philosophy. It is the blend of art and science that makes this such an endlessly fascinating subject and activity for me and for many others following this craft. Periodically, writings of both a practical and philosophical nature will be posted here, hopefully to add another voice to the already extensive body of knowledge and teachings. This may include links to articles, TV/DVDs and other websites about gardening, the natural world and our environment – which needs all the help it can get from its “green” friends.
I hope you will find something to enjoy and perhaps draw inspiration from in these pages.
