The comfortable living room A table with a flower on Bowen Island, BC A cozy place to dream

The suite

When you arrive at Island Thyme B&B you enter from a private entrance on the lower garden level, which features a flagstone landing surrounded by rock gardens and with a small deck overlooking the forest, moss garden and ocean/mountain views.

Entering, you will see double copper-paned French doors separating the glass and cedar sunroom/dining area from the main room and, beyond, two huge sister cedar trees with great sweeps of branches as a dramatic backdrop for the dining room table. The table is always set up to welcome you, accompanied with seasonal flowers.

Through the sunroom door is a stone/flagstone patio set into the garden for your use during your stay. It's perfect for barbequing on the hibachi. The dining table and chairs can easily be moved outdoors. Here you can enjoy a close-up view of the surrounding garden and forest.

The x-large king (or twins) bed is made up with soft, padded and luxurious bedding to make you as comfortable as you can be. We want you to feel “spoiled” and to bring a sense of luxury to your stay. The vibrant cinnabar red wall behind the bed adds to the feeling of warmth and richness and looks sensational in candlelight!

In addition to the basics you would expect, we also include such extras as:

  • candles and flower vases
  • warm throws, soft robes, slippers, rain jackets (yup, sometimes it rains here!)
  • bath salts, body wash products, hand soaps
  • locally made/grown products (where possible)
  • fuel for the pellet stove
  • hibachi, propane cook stove
  • TV/DVD, a selection of music & movie DVDs
  • many books, including those by local writers
  • many extras for the kitchen and bathroom

The cosy, bistro-style kitchen has everything needed for short or extended stays and is designed for self-catering meal preparation at a time of your choosing.

Breakfasts can be personalized to some extent – typical choices include local free-range eggs\bacon, fresh bakery bread, seasonal fruit and juice (or a vegetarian variation). Catered breakfasts may be available if arranged at the time of booking.

Pantry extras include organic teas, hot chocolate and fresh-ground coffee, jams, honey, and cooking basics such as rice, pasta, pancake/crepe mixes, cereals, spices, oils and vinegars. Bring your own fresh food!

There is a wealth of information in your suite about Bowen Island, its amenities, artisans, beaches, hiking trails and activities as well as maps, bus information, Gold Pages telephone directory and more.

Sociable resident cat, name is Zack, is on-site for optional petting, but the suite is a cat-hair-free zone (mournful feline looks notwithstanding!).
