Island Thyme B&B is a scenic 15-20 minute drive across the island from Snug Cove to the quiet island community of Bluewater.

Driving Directions

Starting from Snug Cove, drive up Government Road hill past the school, past Artisan Square, and keep right at the sharp 45-degree turn. Continue past the Fire hall and past the Building Centre. Turn sharp left at the “pet services” sign, turn sharp right at the next intersection on Adams Road (you'll see signs indicating Tunstall and Bowen Bay).

Drive until you see signs indicating to turn right to Bowen Bay and Bluewater. Keep driving downhill until you reach Bowen Beach (on your left). Follow the 45 degree right turn up the steep hill, and drive until you see a sign on the right indicating Spyglass Road. Turn left on Spyglass and at the end of the block, turn left again. Island Thyme B&B is immediately to your right.

You will see a wrought iron gate and signage. If you go too far you will come to the end of paved road just past the Bluewater (Crayola) beach access.

PS. If you miss the Spyglass turnoff and continue up a narrowing road it will loop around to the same place at the end of Spyglass - just carry on down the road a bit.

Please drive slowly and watch carefully for deer on the road.

Note also that, like many islands, grocery stores and shops are mostly clustered by the ferry terminal and surrounding areas. If you want to bring wine and fresh food with you to the suite, pick it up from the General Store, organic Ruddy Potato or the Wine & Beer stores in the Cove. There is also a wonderful deli "Artisan Eats" up at Artisan Square further up the road for prepared foods. It will save you a return trip.

Parking

Park next to the gate, immediately in front or behind my truck if I am parked there, and as far off the paved road as you can. Come in the gate and please close it behind you to keep deer out, then go down the steps to your right to the lower level suite entrance.

Transit - Community Shuttle Service

If you are on foot, the Bowen Island Community Bus service is a great way to get around. It stops just up the hill and runs regularly between Snug Cove and Bluewater, coordinating with the ferry schedule during commuting hours. For details, check the transit website (below). Please note times when it does NOT run. It does not run in the evenings after meeting the 7pm ferry.

Bus Schedule - Bluewater - select route C10 - Bluewater/Snug Cove for West Bowen and Island Thyme.

Select route C11 - Eaglecliff/Snug Cove - to explore northeast Bowen Island.
